Evaluations and Assessments (Ages 3 -21)
Psychological evaluations are an extremely useful method for identifying an individual’s strengths and obstacles. Our comprehensive evaluation assesses cognitive, memory, neurological and academic development. Our professional staff collaborates with the family, teachers and other important individuals working with the child. This multi level assessment allows us to individualize each child’s unique needs. An initial consultation will help parents to determine the assessments necessary to answer questions of concern. A through parent feedback appointment is included at completion of the assessment to discuss the results and recommendations.
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling facilitates the exploration and resolution of personal concerns and issues according to the needs of the individual.  Play therapy is often used with children ages 3 to 11, as it provides a way for children to express their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process.
Some of the issues often addressed in individual counseling include:

  • Stress
  • Anger management
  • Difficulty coping with life circumstances
  • Mood swings
  • Depression
  • Adolescence
  • Anxiety
  • School Problems
  • Self-esteem
  • Changing parenting needs
  • Identity issues
  • Sibling conflicts
  • Loneliness
  • Step Parenting
  • Difficulty maintaining healthy relationships
  • Divorce
Individual counseling can help you explore, understand, and work through these difficulties on a one-to-one basis.  Often, simply having an objective person with whom to discuss things brings about a fresh perspective and a renewed sense of strength and confidence.  Other times, the process helps individuals recognize different options.
Family Therapy and Support Services
As the relationships within a family change from childhood to adolescence, family therapy is often helpful to develop positive interactions between parent and child. Therapy nurtures change and development. Family therapy emphasizes relationships as an important factor in psychological health. It allows each member of the family to talk and explore their feelings, needs, and experiences within the boundaries provided by the family. This process helps to develop new tools that can be integrated into the home environment.
Social Skills group (group therapy)
Group therapy provides the opportunity for children to learn social skills, communication skills, and problem solving in an environment that is nurturing and non-threatening. The child participates in a group based on their cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral needs.
